The Kitchen Remodel Request
After using BC Artman as their realtor when buying their Bethel Park home in 2018, the homeowners were interested in combining their galley kitchen and dining room into an open dine-in kitchen.
The Gerlachs were looking to update their home with the kitchen that they have always wanted.
The Kitchen Renovation Plan
Brad and Susan were looking to completely upgrade their kitchen with new cabinets and countertops while staying within a certain budget. To help with this, we referred them to two local South Hills businesses for custom cabinets and countertops:
- BKG Design for the cabinets
- New Giant Stone for the quartz countertop
Once the cabinets were delivered the BC Artman crew scheduled the beginning of the project with an estimated 6–8-week timeframe.
The Kitchen Project
The kitchen remodel was a complete gut job and took a total of 8 weeks to complete.
After removing the old cabinets and countertops, we began removing the wall between the old kitchen and dining room as well as the walls of an unused living room closet.
Before installing the new cabinets and Scratchmaster vinyl flooring, we rerouted water lines to make room for the new cabinets and pot filler. For lighting, we replaced the ceiling fan in the kitchen by wiring in eight recessed lights, added two pendant lights over the peninsula, and relocated the dining room light. We also had to relocate the thermostat and the air and return vents.

The Gerlach’s New Kitchen
“This is our second time using BC Artman for a renovation project and We couldn’t be happier the results. The skill and craftmanship of Brandon’s crew made our kitchen look even better than we have imagined. We don’t only have a new kitchen; we have a new room where we will be cooking and making memories for years.” ~Brad Gerlach
