Whitehall is located within the Baldwin-Whitehall School District. Baldwin-Whitehall schools include three elementary buildings, one middle school, and a high school. The suburban school district boasts a High School Academic Success Score of 93.4 by Pennsylvania Department of Education with a belief that every child should have a safe and challenging environment to achieve their goals and develop the skills necessary to function in a global society. With a graduation rate of 94.3% (2016), Baldwin-Whitehall teachers and staff are meeting those expectations.
Not far from the High School is the Whitehall Public Library.(pictured top) The library participates in Family Place Libraries™ which is a network of children’s librarians nationwide who believe libraries can help build healthy communities by nourishing healthy families. The Whitehall library has a newly renovated children’s room and features youth and teen programs such as toddler reading programs, family movie nights and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) programs.
Next to the library is a popular summer spot for Whitehall residents. The community pool was renovated in 2010 and has a pool plaza, featuring gazebos and shuffleboard courts. The borough also maintains six beautiful parks and a municipal center with athletic fields, picnic shelters, and playground areas. These are home to athletic associations that offer youth sports programs for baseball, softball, ice hockey, soccer, football, and cheerleading for beginner to competitive participation.
Sports aren’t the only activity in Whitehall. There is a summer recreation program for children ages 6 to 15 years. Children participate in games, crafts, and special events. Whitehall and
community organizations host numerous events throughout the year. Some of these have included food truck festivals, parades, comedy shows, farm markets and senior activates. Local businesses
plan family focused activities including Caste Village Shopping Center’s Light Up Night for the Holiday season with fireworks, store sales and a visit from Santa.
Whitehall, PA is a safe community with a committed public safety department. Police, Fire, and EMS departments are dedicated to maintaining the peace and order of the Borough; protecting property, personal safety, and generally assisting citizens in urgent situations. The police department’s D.A.R.E. Program is “educating Whitehall’s youth, teaching students good decision-making skills to help them lead safe and healthy lives” The D.A.R.E. program also serves
as the first line of defense in schools.
